Guy Gardner’s bowl cut is getting an upgrade.
Nathan Fillion confirms his hot-headed Green Lantern sports an updated look in Man of Tomorrow, which the actor is currently filming, as Fillion also weighs in on becoming the most-recurring actor in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU.
Speaking with EW, Fillion reveals the same bowl cut wig actually pulled double duty in both Superman and Lanterns, as the two projects filmed close together. For Man of Tomorrow, that changes.
“We updated the hairdo just a little bit,” Fillion said.
Nathan Fillion Is The DCU’s Busiest Man
Fillion debuted as Guy Gardner in 2025’s Superman, popped up in Peacemaker Season 2, and currently appears in the first season of Lanterns on HBO, which just posted the biggest series premiere in DC Studios history on HBO Max.
Add in Man of Tomorrow and his recently revealed voice role in the Mister Miracle animated series, and that makes five DCU projects, more than any other actor on the DC Studios slate.
Asked by EW whether that makes him the DCU’s answer to Marvel’s anchor being, Fillion pushed back on the label, saying he sees himself as more of a thread.
He compared the DC universe to a quilt being assembled piece by piece, with Guy Gardner serving as connective tissue that gives the franchise some consistency.
Fillion also made clear he doesn’t claim any ownership of the character, crediting the writers, the designers, and that fantastic hairpiece, saying it feels more like he’s leasing Guy Gardner.
That consistency is worth something at a studio where very little else is nailed down. Lanterns still has no Season 2 greenlight, and our insiders tell us Man of Tomorrow is being built as Gunn’s farewell to DC.
Full Circle For A Green Lantern Veteran
The Mister Miracle gig is a nice bit of history repeating. Long before the DCU, Fillion voiced Hal Jordan in a string of DC animated projects, starting with 2011’s Green Lantern: Emerald Knights.
Now he brings Guy Gardner to animation, and these days he can record from a home studio he built out back.
Hal Jordan is a name that carries some weight this week, as the Lanterns premiere killed off Kyle Chandler’s version of the character in Episode 1, exactly as our insiders said it would.
Fillion is also a longtime Gunn collaborator, having worked with the director on Slither, Super, and Guardians of the Galaxy, so his standing in the DCU should surprise no one.
Lanterns airs its second episode this Sunday on HBO and HBO Max.
Man of Tomorrow, Gunn’s Superman sequel that our insiders say is also using AI in its production, hits theaters July 9, 2027. A premiere date for Mister Miracle has yet to be announced.
