There is a sneak peek over on CBR of some great artwork by cartoonist Graham Annable which salutes the spirit and inventiveness of the late Jim Henson. This is especially appropriate with the latest release by Walt Disney of a new Muppets film.
Annable, also an animator, is the creator of Grickle, published by Alternative Comics, and one of the founders of the Hickee humor anthology. He has created works for the comic book, video game, television and film industries.
According to CBR, the exhibition opens Dec. 10 with a reception at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, CA, and continues through Jan. 2.
“Clearly Kermit, Ms. Piggy, and Gonzo don’t know what to make of their beginnings,” the post on the gallery’s blog states, “but what we can decipher from this is Graham’s bold wit for introducing us to an unusual scenario we never expected the Muppets would run into.”
Annable has done illustration and cartoon work for (among others) LucasArts, Chuck Jones, Nickelodeon and Disney. His self-produced short animated films are also popular among YouTube watchers.
The cartoonist was most recently employed as creative director at Telltale Games and has continued working closely with them.
