It was recently rumored that Michael B. Jordan could be the next Johnny Storm – aka The Human Torch – in the Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four movie.

Well, Jordan happens to be black, with of course, Johnny Storm white in the comic books.

USA Today caught up with the actor to ask his thoughts about a black Human Torch, and as we’ve seen with characters such as Nick Fury, Heimdall and most recently, Perry White, played by Laurence Fishburne in the Man of Steel, it’s the quality of acting that matters.

“Things change and time goes on, it’s 2013 right now,” Jordan said. “The characteristics of the Human Torch are his name is Johnny Storm, he’s charismatic, and he’s a playboy. That’s it. You know what I’m saying? That’s all there is.”

Regarding the rumor that Jordan is up for the role, the actor seems to hint that there are at least talks as he said with a big wink, “Nothing is real. Everyone knows we’re good friends. It’s something that if it happened I would be ecstatic. I’d love to be a part of it.”

Michael B. Jordan than confronts the fanboys that might have a problem with there being a black Human Torch.

“I think all these people have a continuity problem,” Jordan said, but continues with mention that he’s received lots of support. “I get a lot of support and a lot of love from comic-book geeks. I love it.”

It is interesting to note how Josh Trank would handle the character of Sue Storm, as in the comic books, Invisible Woman is sister to The Human Torch, and white as well.

Of course, that could be fixed just as easily.

Fantastic Four has a March 6, 2014 release.
