With The Odyssey just days from theaters and Tom Holland kicking off a four-night Tonight Show takeover tonight, the film’s two leads found time for a lower-stakes assignment: making pizza for NYT Cooking.
Holland and Matt Damon stopped by the kitchen studio for NYT Cooking’s “Pizza Interview,” a nearly 14-minute hang that has the on-screen father and son slinging classic Margherita pies while talking up Christopher Nolan’s epic.
There’s a nice wrinkle to the pairing, too. In the movie, Damon plays Odysseus and Holland plays his son Telemachus, who spends the story searching for the father he barely knows. In the kitchen, they play it as an easy, ribbing double act.
Matt Damon Would Be On Dish Duty
The best bit comes when the two game out what would happen if The Odyssey‘s stacked cast opened a restaurant together. Damon has no illusions about his role.
“Clearly, I’d be washing dishes, because I would not be cooking,” he says.
That he showed up at all is its own gag: Damon is strictly gluten-free, and here he is rolling out Margherita after Margherita. The full video sorts out where the cast would slot Nolan and Anne Hathaway into the kitchen brigade, which is worth the watch.

Part Of A Very Busy Week For Holland
The pizza run lands in the thick of Universal’s final promo push. Holland, Damon, Zendaya and Lupita Nyong’o are taking over Fallon for four straight nights ahead of Friday’s release, with Holland up first tonight.
It’s also the start of a monster stretch for Holland himself, who follows The Odyssey with Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31 — a movie he’s said the Nolan shoot almost saved.
