Mass Effect 3 Sales Top 890,000 In First 24 Hours In North America

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:841:]]Mass Effect 3, which went on sale Tuesday March 6th, saw an estimated 890,000 sales in its first 24 hours — in North America alone!

Electronic Arts’ CEO John Riccitello announced the numbers at the Wedbush Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference in New York City.

Likewise, the added downloadable content ratio to sales for the game came in at a high number, around 40% for Gamestop, which is the highest in their history.

The numbers don’t include International sales as the game just became available in Europe and other parts of the world.

This is certainly good news for the gaming industry which struggled with the months of January and February.

Mass Effect 3 is a huge game, with our very own video game reviewer, Lawrence Napoli, taking the week off from work to play. No foolin‘!

The game is heavy science fiction and cosmic based with Commander Shepard leading the pack to retake the Earth after an Alien armada has targeted us for extermination!

Mass Effect 3 also sports a first-person multiplayer option, which is a first for the franchise I believe.

I’ve played the Demo, it’s quite fun!
