Marvel’s Wolverine finally got its story trailer Thursday, and on paper it’s everything Insomniac needed: Jean Grey confirmed, Team X in play, a villain lineup pulled from the deep cuts, and a September 15 release date now less than two months out.
Then you scroll down. The top comments aren’t about Logan. They’re about discs.
The Top Comments Aren’t About the Game
Sort the YouTube comments by likes and the section reads less like trailer reaction and more like a petition.
The most-liked comment, sitting at 1.9K likes: “As long as it comes out on physical discs I’ll happily throw my money at the screen for a nice steelbook edition.”
Right behind it at 1.5K: “I’ll buy it ON PHYSICAL DISC.”
Then it just keeps going. “Buying this game with a disc” (805 likes). “Can’t wait to get a physical disc of this game to put on my physical collection and enjoy it!” (603). “God this looks so good. I will be buying PHYSICALLY” (450). “Physical discs all the way!” (323). “I can’t wait to PHYSICALLY own this game forever!” (256).
This is the same energy that buried the PlayStation account on X, now fully colonizing YouTube. The protest isn’t confined to Sony’s social feeds anymore. It shows up wherever a PlayStation game does.

“I Just PHYSICALLY Can’t Wait”
The campaign has also evolved its own bit: working the word “physically” into everything. “I’d physically buy this.” “Getting pretty physically hyped for this.” “Wolverine and Physical Discs What a Combo.” And the one that captures how far this has spread, at 202 likes: “i just PHYSICALLY cant wait, wait this is the marvel yt page.”
That last one is the detail worth sitting with. These comments are from Marvel’s YouTube channel, not PlayStation’s.
The disc protest has jumped so far past Sony’s own accounts that fans are staging it on a channel Sony doesn’t even run, because that’s where the game showed up. There is nowhere left for Sony to post about its biggest exclusive without the comments turning into a referendum.

What the Story Trailer Actually Reveals
Buried under the protest is a legitimately loaded trailer.
Per the official description, new allies and adversaries emerge in the clash for mutant survival, with Wolverine uniting with Jean Grey to protect those most vulnerable.
Logan fights alongside Team X against a villain slate headlined by Bolivar Trask, Omega Red, and Deathstrike, plus the Reavers and The Hand as oppressive forces looming over it all.
Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15, 2026, exclusively on PS5, with pre-orders and wishlists live now on the PlayStation Store.
It follows the gameplay showing from Sony’s State of Play, and the fans who did engage with the actual content liked what they saw.
One praised Sabertooth’s portrayal: “It’s so great to see Sabertooth with long blonde hair a huge size and build and personality, and most importantly not killed in one swoop.” Another, at 1K likes, is already dreaming bigger: “Ooohh mannn Cyclops punching through dimensions after this.”
The trailer also caps a stacked stretch of Marvel reveals, with one commenter summing it up: “Avengers Doomsday, Spiderman Brand New Day and this in 3 days is peak.”
That run includes Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day drone show taking shots at Superman and Supergirl, which makes the contrast sharper: Sony’s marketing machine is firing on every cylinder this week, and every launch pad it builds gets repurposed as a protest stage.
