Spoilers follow for Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D “T.A.H.I.T.I.”
Tonight’s episode of S.H.I.E.L.D. was a darn pretty good one as Coulson and crew went on a quest to discover not only the truth surrounding his resurrection, but also an attempt at saving Skye’s life.
The episode also featured Bill Paxton, which was a real treat, and the good news is that Paxton will be appearing in more episodes.
Their mission to save Skye brought them to a remote mountain research facility searching after GH 325, some sort of serum or medication involved with bringing Coulson back from the dead.
What Coulson actually found, however, was not just GH 325, but many GHs – and something else.
It may have been easy to dismiss the corpse as just a muscular human, as it almost seems like the corpse is embalmed in blue liquid giving it the blue hue. Taking a closer look at the images as well as what transpired in the episode seems to indicate the blue guy is actually alien.
Pure speculation, but from watching the episode it seemed as if the GH serum was being taken OUT of the alien, and not injected (say in an attempt to keep it alive). Coulson’s reaction further supports this hypothesis as he tells them not to inject Skye with it – because it’s from an alien. And that would also explain where all the different GH formulas are coming from (interestingly enough real human growth horomone (gh) comes from cadavers as well).
So we have a blue guy with his essence being transferred into a human.
We don’t think Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is setting up Skye to be Carol Danvers (however, we don’t know Skye’s real name?), the series definitely could be introducing Human/Kree Hybrids.
There is still one more piece of the puzzle to add – and that is previous to the shooting, Skye is considered top secret/classified by S.H.I.E.L.D. Why? Perhaps she already is a Human/Kree Hybrid and explains why she is so good at hacking as well as why she reacted to the “transfusion” the way she did. Keep in mind she was classified top secret since when born.
It’s also possible Skye could be something else in the Marvel Universe. Maybe a mutant (there is a mutant human/Kree hybrid in the comics named Tsu-Zana)? Probably not as Fox owns the movie rights to the mutants, and Marvel Studios isn’t going to promote mutants in their TV series anytime soon.
A theory amongst the comic book crowd online is that because of Fox owning the rights to the mutants, Marvel Comics is going to use the Inhumans in their place.
Who are the Inhumans?
It’s possible down the line this storyline could tie into the Guardians of the Galaxy movie as Lee Pace is playing the villain of the film with the Kree known as Ronan. Interestingly enough, the movie also features another blue guy – Yondu, played by Michael Rooker. The Thor movie villains, the Frost Giants, are also a blue hue (Loki, too!). Our guess is that Skye is not a Frost Giant, however, as they seemed to first appear in Thor. Inhumans would work as the Kree (in the comics) visited Earth ages ago to create a group of Inhumans from the primitive humans residing on the planet at the time. Perhaps S.H.I.E.L.D. is aware of the Inhumans existence.
