Mark Millar on X-Men: Days of Future Past: “big sci-fi style thing”

Marvel Studios is going cosmic with their lines of movies, and now it looks as if Fox Studios is following.

Mark Millar was recently announced to be the creative consultant for Fox on its Marvel line of movies, which includes X-Men, Wolverine and Fantastic Four, and now Millar offers a few details about the upcoming X-Men: First Class sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past.

As expected, if you are familiar with the comic book storyline, the film will be heavy sci-fi based, says Millar.

“[Director Matthew] Vaughn is going for a big sci-fi style thing with X-Men: Days of Future Past,” Millar told SFX Magazine (via Digital Spy), while calling it “X-Men meets The Terminator.”

“You’ve got robots, you’ve got time travel, you’ve got superheroes – it’s got everything in one film,” Millar said.

While X-Men: First Class had a budget of $160 million, with the bigger storyline and added effects required for X-Men: Days of Future Past, the budget will go up as well.

“Cost-wise it’s going to go up, and ambitious-wise it’s gone up,” Millar said. “But Vaughn can handle it. Vaughn made Kick-Ass for $28 million.”

X-Men: Days of Future Past has a July 18th 2014 release date.
