[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3071:]]Just last night saw news hit the net about possible Man of Steel concept art that revealed details about advanced Kryptonian weaponry, the origin of Superman’s costume, and that director Zack Snyder might be changing the name of the Phantom Zone.
Now, some new information has been revealed about a Faora Vs. Superman battle, which isn’t the first we’ve heard of it as set images (right) from the Man of Steel Plano, Illinois shoot revealed a standoff in the middle of Smallville between Superman, Faora and an as-of-yet unnamed Kryptonian(?).
The info comes to us again from the Super Hero Hype Forums from a user that claims his source works in the magazine industry.
In line with what I’ve heard that Superman barely scrapes by in the movie against Zod and Faora and other supposed less powerful enemies, the person who literally beats the bloody hell out of him the most is not Zod (he actually apparently fares much better against the General) is Faora. You know the a– kicking Spider-Man receives from Green Goblin in spider-man 1 what with Tobey screaming in major pain with each punch and knee that Goblin gives him… multiply that by 3 and that’s what Faora does to Superman. Or of Omni-Man’s beat down of Invincible.
At first they’re not as powerful but later on as she applies her fight training and adapts them to her powers, she gives Superman one of the worst beatings a hero has faced on camera… She “Doomsdays” him… literally pulverizing him with precision and lethal strength with hitting pressure-points, nerves and even just outclasses Supes in bare knuckle and gives Supes a severe beat down…he’s total agony this entire time, bloody and broken and barely gets away. My buddy doesn’t know at all how Superman defeats these guys eventually but he did say that Superman in this film gets hurt a lot more easily than Routh’s pre-crisis Superman…the military can hurt him too but Faora pretty much nearly kills him in hand to hand…
[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3072:]]The above mentions Faora, played by Antje Traue, giving Superman the beat down of his life — and what’s the question on everyone’s mind?
How’s that possible?
Just as I explained in my article from yesterday — let’s look to the comic books.
The Man of Steel executives have had a hand in the new relaunch of the Superman comic books, and it might be safe to assume with the new Supergirl as well. Action Comics saw a younger Clark Kent who had not yet achieved his full potential as Superman; his powers were not as strong or developed (such as flight). However, when his cousin first appeared on Earth, after having been locked up in a spaceship, Kara’s powers developed faster than Kal-El’s — actually in near instaneous fashion. In addition, it’s also been revealed that Supergirl has powers that Superman does not.
[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3073:]]Now, why is this?
It’s thought the reason is due to the difference between male and female Kryptonian physiology, in that female Kryptonians absorb yellow sunlight faster; of course, the yellow sun is the source of their powers.
I think you can see where I am going with this.
With Faora’s arrival on Earth in addition to her training she might be the strongest Kryptonian there is. The Superman in the movie, played by Henry Cavill, almost seems to be that young, naive – and possibly – less powerful version that is featured in Action Comics (at least at first), which would also explain how he can be hurt by the military. Plus, there is the fact that Superman has not faced anyone similar to his power set (assuming). So really, a Faora beat down is definitely not out of the question. There is also the possibility that Faora does not hold back with the use of her powers as Superman is used to doing, which might give her further advantage, and something that has been touched upon in the comics with mention that – at times – Supergirl seems stronger than her cousin.
This also might tie into the revelation of yesterday’s news that Superman dons perhaps some sort of armor or even Kryptonian Battle Armor.
I will leave the super fans with one bit of hope for their hero, director Zack Snyder did previously state that his Superman will get into some “physical sh-t” and that he likes to see “Superman kick a–.”
