Thirteen years after its release, Man of Steel is back on the charts.
Zack Snyder’s 2013 Superman movie starring Henry Cavill has shot up streaming and digital charts around the world this week, per FlixPatrol data, and the timing could not be more telling.
According to FlixPatrol, Zack Snyderâs Man of Steel climbed near the top of the domestic iTunes chart during the same week Supergirl hit theaters.
FlixPatrol measures daily VOD and streaming chart activity across services like iTunes, Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max and Disney+, tracking which movies and shows are trending or ranking as most popular.

Man of Steel trending worldwide
The FlixPatrol data goes well beyond iTunes. On Netflix, Man of Steel is charting in eleven countries this week, including Denmark, France, Greece, Kenya, Nigeria, and Norway, peaking at #4 in four territories, and it’s still on the boards in five countries as of yesterday.

In Japan, Man of Steel debuted at #2 on Hulu’s movie chart on July 2 and held a top 5 spot through the holiday weekend.
On the Apple TV Store, the film charted in the United States for four straight days, going as high as #14, along with appearances in Greece and Peru. The film even hit #6 in Algeria on the Middle East streaming service Shahid.
Both Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman are also now available on Netflix UK.

Audiences Went Back To Cavill’s Superman As Supergirl Bombed
So what sent a thirteen-year-old movie up the worldwide charts? Look at the calendar.
The surge lines up exactly with Supergirl‘s second weekend collapse at the box office, as the latest DCU film craters and renewed talk swirls that James Gunn could be out with the Paramount takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery about to close.
It also follows Zack Snyder celebrating the 4th of July by posting Henry Cavill’s Superman as his phone’s lock screen, set to Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A.,” which sent SnyderVerse fans into a frenzy in the comments.
It’s just as our insiders said, even on July 4th, Snyder’s Superman proves the character’s global appeal.
With Supergirl in theaters, audiences stayed home and streamed Cavill’s Superman instead.
Man of Steel Keeps Delivering The Numbers
This is nothing new for Man of Steel, which has quietly remained one of the most-watched superhero movies in the world.
In 2025, twelve years after release, Man of Steel still ranked 38th on the list of Netflix’s most-watched superhero movies.
The film grossed $670.1 million worldwide at the box office back in 2013, which adjusts to nearly a billion dollars in today’s money at $964 million.
The overseas appetite for Snyder’s DC work has never gone away either, as Snyder’s Superman poster recently exploded overseas in India, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League has been a top performer on HBO Max internationally.

The Merger, Miller, and Comic-Con
All of it lands as the pieces keep lining up: Paramount is reportedly targeting July 15 to close the WBD deal, and Snyder is set to sit down with The Dark Knight Returns creator Frank Miller in Los Angeles on July 18, just days before San Diego Comic-Con.
The audience keeps voting with their remotes.
CBN will be at the Miller event and at San Diego Comic-Con, so stay tuned.
