Lucasfilm More Open To Pitches And Video Games Following Kathleen Kennedy Exit (Exclusive)

Lucasfilm sounds like a different company these days.

While at San Diego Comic-Con, I spoke with a Hasbro rep who works on the Star Wars line, and he told me Lucasfilm has become a lot more open, particularly when it comes to video games.

Star Wars Jedi Order Game

More Star Wars video game figures on the way

Because of that new openness, the rep said Hasbro will be doing more video game figures.

The timing makes sense, as the Star Wars gaming side is heating up with the third Star Wars Jedi game on the way, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic announced at The Game Awards as a spiritual successor to Knights of the Old Republic, and Star Wars: Galactic Racer releasing in October.

Hasbro has dabbled here before with the likes of Cal Kestis from the Jedi games, so a bigger push into game characters is exactly what collectors have been asking for.

More open to pitches

The rep also told me Lucasfilm is more open to pitches creatively.

What makes all of this interesting is the timing, as it follows the exit of Kathleen Kennedy, with Dave Filoni in charge of the creative side.

A Lucasfilm that listens to pitches and embraces its games is a much different Lucasfilm than the one fans have been complaining about for the past decade.

It also lines up with what we have been reporting, as a massive Star Wars reset is said to be incoming, with the 50th anniversary and Star Wars: Starfighter leading the charge.
