Stitch stopped by D23. Disney teased Lilo & Stitch 2 during Friday night’s Entertainment Showcase, bringing returning stars Maia Kealoha and Sydney Agudong on stage while the little blue menace waved to the crowd from the screen.
The sequel kicks off summer 2028 over Memorial Day weekend, dated for May 26, 2028.
Stitch Creator Chris Sanders Directs
The bigger story remains behind the camera. Chris Sanders, who co-created the 2002 original and has voiced Stitch for over two decades, directs the sequel from his own script, taking over from Lilo & Stitch 2025 director Dean Fleischer Camp.
Kealoha and Agudong return as Lilo and Nani, with Sanders once again voicing Stitch. Jonathan Eirich produces through Rideback, and The Hollywood Reporter has said shooting gets underway later this year.
Rather than adapting Stitch Has a Glitch, the sequel tells a brand-new story.
Chasing Another Billion
The 2025 remake grossed $1.038 billion worldwide on a $100 million budget, one of only three billion-dollar movies that year, after delivering the biggest Memorial Day opening in box office history.
The sequel now opens the same summer Disney closes with Pixar, arriving three weeks ahead of Incredibles 3 on June 16, 2028.
