We just heard from Mark Millar who voiced his support for Matthew Vaughn as the director for Star Wars, perhaps putting a stop to the thought that Vaughn would be out of contention because of Secret Service.
Millar is not done yet, though, as he clears the air surrounding the exact name for Kick-Ass 2 as well as some recent erroneous reports by a number of websites that got his interview with CBR wrong.
Some sites claimed, based on a Mark Millar quote, that the Kick-Ass 2 movie would feature Hit-Girl for 45 minutes with the rest of the movie being “Kick-Ass 2,” meaning the rest of the cast wouldn’t be featured as much.
Judging by what Millar said in the CBR interview about the Hit-Girl comic book series, it does at least sound that way.
“I came up with all this a couple of years back and wrote it back then too,” he explained of the project that was born in 2010 and took two years to complete after Romita committed to doing all the art himself rather than inviting on assistants. “He said, ‘I’ll promise you I can ramp up the schedule.’ The thing was always planned as a 12-issue story broken into two parts, but they each have to stand in their own right. You can read one and not have to read the other, but when you go and see the movie, it’s basically Hit-Girl for 45 minutes and then an hour of ‘Kick-Ass 2.'”
However, Millar offers the following via his site:
The number of news-sites who have misreported the CBR interview is astonishing. When I said the first 45 mins of this flick is Hit-Girl I’m talking about the Hit-Girl SERIES, which Dave and Chris also appear in. The idea that it’s about someone else for 45 mins is just insane. How can these guys be that literal?? But it seems to go quite wide when I checked this morning and smacked my forehead. Dave, Chris and Mindy are seeded all the way through this movie and get equal screen time so don’t worry!!
Another pet peeve of Millar’s is the fact that some sites also keep referring to Kick-Ass 2 as “Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall,” which was ditched a while ago.
‘m also stunned that some sites still reporting sub-heading Balls to the Wall, which I told everyone two years ago we weren’t using. It’s Kick-Ass 2, people. I don’t want a– and BALLS in the same title of anything on my IMDB page 🙂
Kick-Ass 2 opens June 28, 2013, directed by Jeff Wadlow, based on the Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. graphic novel, starring Aaron Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Jim Carrey, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, John Leguizamo and Lyndsy Fonseca.
