Last night saw the big news hit that Kathleen Kennedy plans on stepping down and retiring from Lucasfilm and Star Wars by the end of the year.
Update: Kennedy officially responds and confirms her exit but says she is not retiring.
While it has not officially been announced, that hasnât stopped speculation about who could replace Kathleen Kennedy â and one name happens to be Marvelâs Kevin Feige.
Itâs known Feige is a huge Star Wars fans as he included Easter Eggs in various MCU films. He was also set to develop and release his own Star Wars movie, which has since been placed on the backburner.

Names in the mix
THR goes over who could possibly replace Kathleen Kennedy, which includes names weâve gone over with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. Some others they say could be in the mix include J.J. Abrams, Emma Watts (interestingly enough, Watts worked on the X-Men movies with Simon Kinberg who is supposed to be developing a new Star Wars trilogy, and Kinbergâs pal also recently became Lucasfilmâs new VP of Development; Watts also helped launch the Deadpool movies), and Hannah Minghella (who previously worked with Abrams).
Feige the best candidate for Star Wars?
Regarding Feige, THR says that âmany insiders believe the best candidate for the job is Marvel Studios topper Feige, who has shown an uncanny ability to balancing corporate needs with an understanding of a core IP.â
Missed opportunity
However, THR goes on to say it looks as if Feige might have missed his opportunity to take over Star Wars due to the downfall of the MCU post-Endgame.
Feige needs to fix Marvel
The site says that âFeige is focused on recalibrating Marvel.â
As my own insiders have said and has been confirmed, that includes the retooled Daredevil: Born Again, which gets released next week on Disney+. THR also adds that means ârelaunching Fantastic Four this summer and focusing on the new Avengers movies, which will shoot this year.â
âHeâs the only one that makes sense, but he needs to focus on Marvel,â said one Disney insider, according to the site.
Announcement expected in April
