Kevin Eastmen Compares Changes In New Ninja Turtles To The Avengers

[page_title]

Kevin Eastmen, creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, recently spoke about the upcoming new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie at Comic-Con.

Ever since it was first announced that a new Turtles flick was in the making — with Michael Bay attached, fans have been in a half-shell.

It’s been said that Bay is dropping both the “teenage” and “mutant” aspects of the Turtles, and giving them an alien origin.

To add to that, the release date for the new Ninja Turtles movie has been pushed back six months to May 16th of 2014.

So with fans all in an uproar, in an interview with our friends over at MTV Geek, Eastman compares the changes in his Turtles to what Marvel has done with The Avengers.

“I know that Michael and his group really like that and that Paramount was supportive of that, so I think that it’s great,” he shared. “I grew up reading ‘Captain America’ and ‘The Avengers’ and all that stuff, and over the course of the comic book history, since ‘Avengers’ has been around, how many times has it been reinvented, reformatted, restructured, replatformed?

I’m not even going to go there with that comparison, but Eastman does state the delay in release date for the Ninja Turtles movie makes sense as May of 2014 is the Turtles 30 Anniversary, and with that, also shares his enthusiasm for the new version.

“From what I’ve seen, it’s easily the best ‘Turtle’ movie yet. We’re talking ‘Raid: Redemption’-style fight scenes; we’re talking about epic ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ sort of effects.”
