Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams has been pretty mum when it comes to anything for his new movie.
Really, the only official promotional material has come in the form of a 3 second frame clip revealing an image of Zachary Quinto as Spock in a volcano suit — and image previously seen as a set pic.
We did get a small tidbit from J.J. Abrams most recently with the revelation that Benedict Cumberbatch is, indeed, the movie’s villain; however, everybody knew that about Star Trek 2 as well.
So it should come to no surprise that in an interview with KTLA 5, Abrams doesn’t offer anything about the movie, but he does state that closer to the movie’s release he will come back and say more.
Abrams also says they are currently editing Star Trek Into Darkness as well and goes into writing movies and TV, which is rather interesting.
And just in case you were wondering if J.J. Abrams was going to direct the new Star Wars movie, it doesn’t seem likely.
Star Trek Into Darkness has a May 17th, 2013 release date in 3D, is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Chris Pine as Capt. James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov, John Cho as Hikaru Sulu and Benedict Cumberbatch as an unnamed villain.
