In a move that sounds similar to what Marvel Studios and Disney did with Joss Whedon and The Avengers movie universe, a new rumor has hit the net suggesting that J.J. Abrams will be more involved with Star Wars.

Perhaps shooting down the rumor that Abrams is considering leaving the franchise, the new rumor suggests exactly the opposite — that Abrams will be involved more than originally thought.

The fan site, StarWars7news.com, has it that J.J. Abrams is going to serve as a creative consultant on all the Disney Star Wars projects which includes the main movies, spinoffs, games, TV series and more. It’s said Abrams will be the creative core for Star Wars through which all things will pass.

The site also mentions that the main reason the negotiations for Star Wars and Disney took so long – was not because Abrams was butting heads with Disney – but because of the scale of his involvement in all the Star Wars projects.

Fans also noticed no Disney announcements for Star Wars: Episode VII at Comic-Con and the recent D23 Expo which – again may not be because Abrams and Disney are at odds – but because of Abrams strict secrecy policies surrounding his films. The director went so far as to have barriers built around the set of Star Trek Into Darkness to keep the paparazzi out.

There has still been no official word from Disney or LucasFilm in regards to the plot, but rumors have been flying at hyperspeed. It’s thought the children of either Luke Skywalker and/or Princess Leia and Han Solo will play into the movie taking over the spotlight from their parents. Most recently it’s been rumored that Emperor Palpatine will be featured as well as his apprentice/disciple. There’s even been rumor of a return for Darth Vader.

Star Wars: Episode VII has a 2015 release.
