It’s real. Jeffrey Dean Morgan said so himself.
Appearing on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast on YouTube, Morgan confirmed that Zack Snyder had bigger plans for his Thomas Wayne following Batman v Superman, and that those plans came down to one word.
“Flashpoint.”
The actor also said he wants to appear in Snyder’s adaptation of Escape From New York. He also confirmed nearly playing Lobo.
“He’s Like, I Got Bigger Plans”
Morgan says that when Snyder called him about the BvS role, he shrugged it off as a small part, and Snyder stopped him.
“He’s like, I got bigger plans,” recalled Morgan. When Morgan asked what that meant, Snyder answered, “can you just trust me?”
The history goes back further. Morgan says the two first talked Batman on the Watchmen press tour, where Snyder told him, “I would love to see you play Batman,” and Morgan begged him not to tease it or he’d have a heart attack on the spot.
Then came the moment. “At one point he had looked over and just said, Flashpoint,” said Morgan. “And so it’s real.”

For anyone new to why fans have begged for this movie for a decade: in the Flashpoint story, Bruce dies in the alley instead of his parents. Thomas Wayne becomes a brutal, gun-toting Batman, and Martha Wayne’s grief breaks her into becoming the Joker.
Batman v Superman cast Morgan as Thomas and Lauren Cohan as Martha, and as CBN exclusively reported years ago, Snyder intentionally cast the pair with the Flashpoint plan in mind.
Morgan just confirmed that reporting on the record. That same report also laid out the payoff Snyder planned for the Pa Kent tornado scene in Man of Steel, which is going viral all over again.
The real ending of The Flash was also supposed to lead to a Batman Multiverse and a return of the SnyderVerse characters.
“Shocked” It Never Happened
Morgan didn’t hide how he feels about the outcome, saying he was shocked things didn’t work out between Snyder and Warner Bros., praising the director because “he leans toward the darkness.”
Morgan made clear he likes James Gunn too, revealing he was attached to do a movie with Gunn about a serial killer that wasn’t even a superhero film.
But on Snyder and DC, Morgan went all the way: “He loves the iconography. It’s in his bones. He bleeds it.”
Why This Hits Different Right Now
Morgan saying “it’s real” would be a fun retrospective in any other month. This is not any other month.
Snyder just posted from the Warner Bros. lot set to a song called “Home,” followed it with a 106 gram stone skipped across a “casting pond,” and told a live crowd a Dark Knight Returns movie happens “when they let us.”
And as I have been reporting, the SnyderVerse return in play at a Paramount-owned Warner Bros. means unfinished business across the board. Morgan just reminded everyone there’s a Batman sitting in that unfinished business, and the actor is clearly still ready to suit up.
