Marvel has yet to release the post-credit scene for Guardians of the Galaxy, as they are keeping it under wraps until the movie’s official release on August 1st.

Director James Gunn reassures the fans that there is indeed a Guardians of the Galaxy post-credit scene and says it is all their own (via Total Film).

Oh we have a post-credit sequence for you! Oh, do we ever! Yes, well we are connected, first of all we are connected…because of certain characters…but we have a post-credit sequence that’s all our own! That in all honestly we have just been doing the past few days so I think it’s going to be a great deal of fun for people.”

Obviously I can’t ask anything specific about it, but can I have just one word to sum up the scene?

You don’t even want to know what it is! Pure joy, pure joy, that’s two words!”

Fans are speculating the post-credit scene could be Richard Rider Nova (which seemed to have been shot down by Gunn), as well as a scene featuring Adam Warlock busting out of the cocoon seen in The Collector’s collection in the Thor 2 post-credit scene.

Others think it might be some of the Guardians headed to Earth, or maybe even a scene featuring the original characters (Vance Astro).

Maybe it’s the long-rumored idea of Iron Man in space?

Or maybe even an Ultron drone connecting to The Avengers 2?

Any ideas?

“Guardians of the Galaxy” has an August 1, 2014 release.
