Jabba the Hutt Knew There Were 3 Star Wars Trilogies All Along

With the news that Disney is acquiring Star Wars for $4.05 billion from George Lucas, comes word from Jabba The Hut that three Star Wars trilogies were planned all along.

Star Wars creator George Lucas has gone on record stating that the story stopped with Return of the Jedi, meaning that even the popular novels and comic books are not canon.

But with the Disney acquisition also comes a new Star Wars Trilogy in 2015 with subsequent movies in 2017 and 2019.

We’ve heard previous mention by Lucas that he handed over treatments for Episodes VII, VIII and IX to Disney, and also that a former Lucas biographer got a peek at them some time ago.

Now, the puppeteer who was responsible for the movements of Jabba The Hut says that he thought a third trilogy was always in the cards.

“We knew we were working on the middle three films of a set of nine and there would be prequels and sequels framed around our trilogy,” puppeteer Toby Philpott told WhalesOnline.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3828:]]Philpott goes on to mention that Lucas may have already had the treatments for the new Star Wars Trilogy completed back then.

“It’s very possible George (who will be the new movies’ creative consultant) had already outlined the nine stories then,” Philpott added.

While it’s been already said that the new Star Wars Trilogy will feature an all-new original story, one thing that seems for sure is that Jabba The Hut will not be returning.

“Apart from anything else, Jabba is dead,” Philpott said. 

Philpott, not surprisingly, also adds that he wasn’t a fan of the use of CGI for Jabba The Hut in the prequels.

“I can’t look at CGI all day, it irritates me. I want to see something real.”

Oh, and that tongue for Jabba? K-Y Jelly.

“The tongue was covered in K-Y jelly and gloop and gunge, it was horrible stuff.”
