A little more than a week ago we learned that Darren Aronofsky had vacated the director’s chair on “The Wolverine” which was to be adapted from the Chris Claremont and Frank Miller comic book.
This came as a surprise seeing how Aronofsky seemed already so involved. He told Hugh Jackman to bulk up to look more like the Wolverine in the comics. Jackman complied, and with the help of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, began a 6000 calorie/day diet to pack on 30lbs of muscle.
It was thought that “The Wolverine” was put on the backburner, but Jackman at the recent CinemaCon, held in Las Vegas, stated they are still going ahead with it, according to EW.
“So now we’re out looking for a director,” Jackman shrugged. “We were pretty much ready to go. The script is fantastic — the best we’ve ever had, which is why it attracted Darren in the first place. His personal situation precludes him from doing it now, and I feel for him. But now we need to find a director.”
“The Wolverine remains very much alive,” Jackman told EW. “The script by The Usual Suspects screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie is still in play.”
The article states that Jackman is not “quitting now” – and that not only includes not quitting on “The Wolverine” but the diet he has already started.
However, Jackman seems to be getting impatient.
“I can’t be eating too many more chicken breasts,” he groaned.
