Warner Bros. has pushed back Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: There and Back Again from a July 18, 2014 release to a December 17, 2014 release.
As Deadline notes, this move avoids Fox Studios and Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Peter Jackson recently debuted the first Hobbit film this past December which brought in close to a $1 billion worldwide.
The second movie in the franchise, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, has a December 13th, 2013 release.
We see that the move of The Hobbit 3 brings it in line with the other two movies with December openings, which perhaps Warners thought was a better opener for the movies.
