Henry Cavill Is Building A Video Game With Google And The Mustache Is Back

Henry Cavill’s mustache is back.

Google announced Tuesday that Cavill is partnering with the company to build a video game using Googlebook, Google’s new laptop, with the game coming this November.

The campaign photos show Cavill sporting the full mustache, and Google’s response to the news on X is aimed right at DC fans.

Per the announcement on Google’s blog, Cavill asked to go hands-on with Googlebook ahead of its release, and now he is using the laptop to build his own game.

“When Google reached out to me and explained what they are doing with Googlebook, and all of its new, integrated tools, it had me intrigued. So, I asked for the opportunity to have a play with it ahead of release,” said Cavill.

“After being hands on and spending some time with their team, I believe this has the potential to be the start of something rather special,” Cavill continued. “Time and technology are marching forward at a breakneck pace, this, and all that Google are trying to do with it, has the whispers of the next generation.”

Google describes Cavill as an “actor, producer, and tech enthusiast” with “a passion for gaming, fantasy lore, and high-performance technology,” and says the game will be revealed in November.

The gaming part checks out. Cavill played Geralt in The Witcher, famously built his own gaming PC on camera, and is a die-hard Warhammer 40,000 fan who is developing a series for Prime Video.

“We Think It’s Going To Be Super”

Following the announcement, Google’s official X account posted, “We think it’s going to be super,” and capped it off with a winking emoji.

DC fans know the mustache history. Cavill grew it for 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and when Warner Bros. called him back for Justice League reshoots, Paramount refused to let him shave it off.

Warner Bros. digitally erased the mustache instead, and the CGI upper lip became one of the most infamous visual effects disasters in comic book movie history.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League used none of the reshoot footage, so the Snyder Cut never had the problem.

Now Paramount, the studio that kept the mustache in place, is days away from owning Warner Bros. and DC.

Cavill last played Superman in the Black Adam post-credits scene before James Gunn rebooted the character with David Corenswet. Just days ago, Cavill said he will “always” stay faithful to what fans love about Superman.

CBN insiders, meanwhile, have Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman penciled in as part of Zack Snyder’s plan under David Ellison’s Warner Bros., with The Dark Knight Returns being looked at as a two-part event movie.

Gal Gadot has already said on record she will return as Wonder Woman if Snyder comes back.

Cavill’s video game gets revealed in November. The merger closes in October.

Google thinks it’s going to be super. So do our sources.
