The last time we heard about an Indiana Jones 5 movie was from producer Frank Marshall who stated the movie was on the back burner for the Star Wars films; now we hear from Harrison Ford who thinks it would be perfectly appropriate for the 71-year-old actor to return.
Previously, Raiders of the Lost Ark‘s Karen Allan stated both Ford and Steven Spielberg want another Indiana Jones, with the latest coming from the UK’s Telegraph who recently caught up with Ford.
We’ve seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it’s perfectly appropriate and okay for him to come back again with a great movie around him where he doesn’t necessarily have to kick as much ass. To me, what was interesting about the character was that he prevailed, that he had courage, that he had wit, that he had intelligence, that he was frightened and that he still managed to survive. That I can do.
Indiana Jones 5 has been in the works for some time, with rumor the movie was supposed to be centered around the Bermuda Triangle also starring Shia LeBeouf from Kingdom of Crystal Skrull; however, various reports shot those rumors down with it said Lucas had yet to hand in a story and that a writer hasn’t even been attached.
It’s also reported that Disney doesn’t own the distribution rights to the Indiana Jones movies as Paramount retains the option to distribute, which includes Blu-Rays as well. Of course that doesn’t necessarily mean an Indiana Jones 5 won’t go forward as Paramount has similar deals with the Marvel Studios movies.
