Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg Want Indiana Jones 5

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2413:]]Last we heard from producer Frank Marshall about “Indiana Jones 5,” it seemed as if it had been all but buried.

However, with the new Indiana Jones Blu-Ray comes hope that “Indiana Jones 5” is not all lost.

We learn that both Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg want to do the movie, as does Karen Allan, Indy’s long time love interest (via Movies.com).

“I would! And I, in fact, just talked with Steven Spielberg recently – we e-mailed back and forth, and I said, “What should I say? I’m doing this publicity, what should I say if people ask me that question?” And he said, “It’s in George’s [Lucas] hands! I’m game, Harrison’s game, and now it’s up to George to write the script or to get the script organized, and the story.” And so I think it’s – they want to do a fifth, from what I understand, but they don’t want to do it just to do it, they want to do it if they can come up with a story that everybody is happy with and that everybody likes.

We see that “Indiana Jones 5” seems to be waiting for George Lucas, which may mean that we may be waiting a long time as the director recently “retired” to do his own movies in his garage (no foolin‘). In addition, Frank Marshall stated that George Lucas isn’t really interested and that there is no MacGuffin (i.e. plot device) for “Indiana Jones 5” as well.

On the bright side though, we do see they are at least waiting for a good script, most likely one that can’t be any worse than Kingdom of Crystal Skull.
