Michael Rooker, playing Yondu in the James Gunn-directed Guardians of the Galaxy movie, is presently attending DragonCon where the actor actually hints sequels for the Marvel Cosmic movie may be in the pipeline as well as that his character may be different than the comic books.

SuperHeroHype caught up with the actor and asked about Guardians of the Galaxy. Rooker responded with the following:

When I first got the role of Yondu, [director James] Gunn was like, ‘Don’t read any of the comics!’ but It’s beautiful stuff. Whenever you do a film of comic book characters and stuff you don’t know how much you can show, you don’t know how much is going to be brought out. Nowadays movies are done and they already have two or three others planned out. So stuff you do in this one, you ask “Why aren’t we doing this?” and they say, “Well be patient.”

We see Gunn tells Rooker to not read the comic books which suggests Yondu’s role in the movie may be a bit different that Marvel Cosmic fans are used to; however, as Michael Rooker seems to hint at sequels, perhaps more of the Yondu we know is in the works further down the line.

The “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie has an August 1, 2014 release directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer and Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Lee Pace as Ronan, Djimon Hounsu as Korath the Pursuer, with John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, Glen Close as Nova Prime, and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon.
