Godzilla (2014) Italy Lucca Con Featured Old Footage

This past weekend saw Warner Bros. show off footage from the new Godzilla movie at Italy’s Lucca Con.

With previous mention that the Godzilla trailer would be debuting tomorrow, did Warner Bros. and Legendary reveal the first trailer?

The answer seems to be no as what was shown was previously featured at Comic-Con.

From Screen Week, a site out of Italy, comes the news that it was just the footage previously seen featuring the Oppenhemier quote.

Translated via Google:

Screened for the first time on the big screen in the beautiful Italianannouncement trailer Comic-Con, that appeared in bootleg version some time ago. In the background the quote from Robert Oppenheimer: ” I am become death, destroyer of worlds , “Now I have become death, the destroyer of worlds. A city destroyed, many dead framed from above: a derailed train, a palace gutted with the silhouette of a huge monster, the carcass of a huge kaiju dead on the beach.

And here he get the destroyer of worlds: the smoke covers him for part of his gigantic body , slowly we discover to take a look at classic nose of Godzilla, perfectly recognizable and inspired by the classic Japanese monster (it is not a reinvention of the Emmerich ). Roar and logotitolo final, with lots of characters. A pity not to have seen more footage, but I remember that the first official trailer (not this one) will be available soon: it speaks of November or at least December.

I’m also guessing the Godzilla trailer will not be debuting tomorrow as there has been no hype preceding it. No new poster or even a “trailer for a trailer” as a majority of the studios like to do to promote upcoming previews. Another factor could be the trailer wouldn’t get released on a Sunday, but a weekday when more seem to be online. Of course, hopefully I’m wrong and it does spring on us tomorrow.

With Godzilla premiering in six months, promotion for the movie and a first trailer has to be coming sooner rather than later. Basically all we have been getting as of late is a bunch of leaks and teasers that get yanked down faster than Godzilla can stomp a car.

Godzilla” opens May 16, 2014 in 3D starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, and Juliette Binoche, with David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. The screenplay is by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham.

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
