G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation (2013): Release Date Changed Because of Spoiler

[page_title]

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1793:]]We may finally have the real reason why the release date for G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation was moved up 9 months from its June 29th release date to March 29th, 2013.

Deadline is reporting that the plan was for Channing Tatum’s character to die off — in the beginning of the movie.

Turns out test screenings showed the audience at least wanted more character development between Duke and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s character, Roadblock.

In addition, since the first G.I. Joe debuted, Channing Tatum has become more of a star, so the studio is second guessing their decision to kill him off.

Reportedly, new scenes are being filmed with Channing Tatum.

Whether he still dies is unknown.

Another factor to add to the mix is that Tatum has another movie – where he plays a stripper – opening that same June 29th weekend with Magic Mike.

The original reasoning behind the switcheroo was stated to be because of 3D conversion, which seems in part the truth as the studio does indeed plan on more 3D for G.I. Joe to satisfy the International audience.

G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation hits March 29, 2013 directed by Jon Chu, starring Channing Tatum, Ray Park, Elodie Yung, RZA, DJ Cotrona, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson, Joseph Mazzello and Walton Goggins and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
