Perhaps addressing all the berserker fanboys out there, Mangold offered the following tweets:
Tell me you think we’re lame after you see the teaser. At least then you will be critiquing images from the film, not a marketing window.
From end of March till release, you’ll be saturated. Relax, yuk. I’ve never found the coolest people are the first to arrive at a party.
It was previously rumored that The Wolverine trailer would be released in February, but it’s safe to say that’s been put to the rest.
Regarding what movie the trailer/teaser could be attached to, G.I. Joe Retaliation comes out on March 29th, which looks to be the best guess. The only other “popular” movie toward the end of March is Stephenie “Twilight” Meyer’s The Host, but somehow we don’t see Wolverine debuting with that.
The Wolverine has a July 26th, 2013 release date, and stars Hugh Jackman, Brian Tee, Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto, and Rila Fukushima, with Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback on a script adapted from Frank Miller and Christopher Claremont’s comic arc from 1982.
Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.
