First Official Image From Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Director Matt Reeves has provided a first look at Dawn of the Planet of the Apes as production has begun with filming in Canada.

We see an actor atop a horse wearing a motion-capture-suit, most likely one of the Apes.

Reeves included the following on his Twitter: “A New Dawn.”

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has a May 23, 2014 release date and stars Gary Oldman, Kerri Russell, Jason Clarke, Kodi-Smit McPhee, Judu Greer and Andy Serkis.

Synopsis:

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
