Kevin Feige Says Marvel Has ‘A Lot More Movies To Make’

Kevin Feige says Marvel is nowhere near done.

The Marvel Studios boss was honored as the 2026 Pioneer of the Year at the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation’s annual dinner on September 30 at the Beverly Hilton.

During his speech, he put a number on where the MCU stands.

“Doomsday‘s only our 39th movie,” Feige said in a video posted by The Hollywood Reporter.

“The Longest-Running Fictional Narrative In History”

Feige made the case that Marvel has barely scratched the surface.

“The Marvel mythology is ripe for storytelling. It’s so rich. It is, and you can look this up, the longest-running fictional narrative in history,” he said.

“And Doomsday‘s only our 39th movie. We’ve still got a lot of stories to tell. A lot of movies to make. Because we love making these movies. We love it,” Feige continued.

The count is right. Doomsday follows Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the MCU’s 38th movie, into theaters this December.

Feige also joked about what making them day to day actually looks like.

“When we’re in production, it’s really easy to get bogged down in the details and the day-to-day, and you’re trying to get the script right, and you’re trying to get the cast right, and you’re trying to solve problems, and Jeff Bridges is bringing you into the trailer to make martinis,” he said.

Bridges played Obadiah Stane opposite Robert Downey Jr. in 2008’s Iron Man, the movie that started it all.

“They’re Finding A Babysitter To Come Out And See What We Do”

Feige then turned to the people buying the tickets.

“When you take a step back and you remember, hold on. People are getting in their cars, they’re finding parking, they’re buying a ticket, they’re finding a babysitter to come out and see what we do,” he said.

“And they’re choosing to sit in a theater with a bunch of strangers to experience something that just might become a core memory like they did for me,” Feige continued.

He also gave a nod to the Avengers: Endgame Encore weekend.

“If you get really lucky, they’re coming back and doing it again, whether they see the same movie seven times or come back to see it again seven years later like we saw this weekend with Avengers: Endgame Encore, which was pretty amazing,” he said.

Feige closed by pushing back on the box office doom and gloom.

“In this industry that is constantly being told moviegoing is dying, we’ve got to make movies that bring people back to the theater,” he said.

Feige’s remarks come as the Russos make the Doomsday press rounds, where they revealed the movie runs around two and a half hours.

Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars to follow on December 17, 2027.
