Elliot Page says the phone isn’t ringing after The Odyssey, and he doesn’t think it’s a mystery why.
“I think it’s a little tricky for me to get cast right now,” Page said on the On Film… With Kevin McCarthy podcast. “I think that’s probably for pretty obvious reasons.”
Page left it there. When McCarthy joked, “The Canadian thing,” Page played along: “Yeah, of course. Hollywood hates Canadians for some weird reason. Those tariffs.”
Page plays Sinon in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, the Greek soldier left behind to sell the Trojan Horse ruse.
The character has limited screen time, but the Hades sequence built around him has become the scene audiences talk about most, and the film has now crossed $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office.
“No, Kevin, I’m Not”
The subject came up when McCarthy asked what Page is doing next, adding, “I imagine you’re getting a zillion calls after this movie.”
“No, Kevin, I’m not,” Page answered. “So, if someone wants to call me.”
Asked if he really has nothing lined up, Page confirmed: “Not really. I’d really love to do, ideally, good work. That’s what I’d love to do.”
Page came out as transgender in December 2020.
Before The Odyssey opened in July, his casting drew online backlash, including false claims that he had been cast as Achilles.
Whoopi Goldberg answered the critics at the time with, “Don’t go see the damn movie.” The film opened anyway to one of the biggest runs of 2026.
“I Was Seen In A Certain Way Before”
Page addressed the change in how the industry views him when McCarthy asked whether he would ever reach out to directors he admires.
“I wish I could be more that person who’s like, I just walked in the room,” he said. “I’m more like, if they want me, if they think I’m right. But maybe too, ’cause I was seen in a certain way before, and it is different now. So maybe there is something to reaching out to people and trying to create connections and projects that way.”
He also drew a straight line between his two Nolan movies.
“When you do ask me about Ariadne, I had such a great time being in that movie, I had such a great time working with Chris, but I was also personally really uncomfortable,” Page said of Inception. “Whereas a part like Juno, I was able to feel a bit more comfortable and embodied. But I feel now, ’cause that’s removed and I don’t have to deal with that when I’m acting in my performances, I feel like I could do some of my best work now.
“I’m not having to literally work through a performance that I don’t even quite know I’m doing to get to a performance.”
Page called wrapping The Odyssey “a full circle moment” and said he shot the Iceland beach scene feeling fully present for the first time. “Knowing yourself more and embodying yourself more weirdly lets you let go.”
“I’m grateful to Chris for having me be a part of this,” he added. “I’ve been so lucky in my career and gotten to play some really fantastic parts and be a part of some wonderful projects.”
