Ed Boon has responded to the Injustice 3 rumors.
Asked point blank about claims that NetherRealm is testing the game right now, the studio boss answered: “All false.”
Then he posted a follow-up worth reading twice.

“100% False. Next Rumor Please”
It started on September 21 when the fan account FGCentel posted a fake report, attributed to IGN, claiming NetherRealm is partnering with Insomniac Games on the first AAAA fighting game.
Boon shot it down the next day: “100% false. Next rumor please,” he wrote, adding a wink.
The post has passed 1.3 million views and now carries a Community Note reading, “Rumor confirmed false by Ed Boon.”
Boon asked for the next rumor, so fan account TotalMK lined them up: NetherRealm is testing Injustice 3 right now, testing Mortal Kombat 13 right now, and testing Mortal Kombat 9 right now.
Boon’s reply: “All false.”
A Denial That Keeps Injustice 3 Alive
When TotalMK joked that the mystery game must really be Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe 2, Boon replied with a thumbs up: “Appreciate the interest & enthusiasm.”
Boon continued: “But just because a game isn’t currently being tested externally doesn’t necessarily mean the game isn’t in development.”
Read the wording. Boon shot down games being tested right now. He said nothing about what NetherRealm is building.
The timing matters too. The Culver City playtest sessions for an unreleased AAA 2D fighting game ran September 14 and 15. They were over a full week before Boon typed “All false.”
The rumors also keep arriving with receipts attached. Days earlier, a stunt double’s resume named Supergirl and Batwoman as Injustice 3 fighters before the listing got scrubbed.
And this is the same Boon who said in May that NetherRealm is “definitely pursuing another Mortal Kombat game” and “definitely doing more as well.”
Boon says nothing is being tested right now. He never said nothing is being made.
Also, don’t forget, Paramount will be the new owner of WB Games and DC, so if Injustice 3 is happening, it will be David Ellison giving it the green light.
