Dwayne Johnson is set to play Black Adam, the villain/anti-hero, of the Shazam movie, which has a 2019 release date.
A few days ago, Johnson responded to a fan’s criticism on Twitter of Shazam possibly being similar to Zack Snyder and David Goyer’s Man of Steel and Batman Vs. Superman in that Shazam won’t be any fun.
The fan (and of course it’s his opinion) specifically mentioned as fun as Johnson’s Fast & Furious movies.
Well, Johnson replied to the fan with a couple of interesting bits of information.

First, Dwayne Johnson mentions it’s going to be “bad a– fun,” which is pretty much what should be expected as if it follows the comics in anyway, it will also feature a young boy, the alter-ego of Captain Marvel, Billy Bastion.
Second, Johnson reveals the Shazam movie is a part of New Line Cinema, which is considered a separate studio, but still falls under (and is owned by) Warner Bros. New Line developed The Hobbit movies, Horrible Bosses, The Mask, Austin Powers, and Johnson’s Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
The third piece of information – and probably the most revealing – is the hashtag “independece,” which could mean Shazam may simply be a standalone film, possibly not directly connected to any of the other “Justice League” movies. It probably also means Zack Snyder and David S. Goyer aren’t involved.
