Avengers: Doomsday may have leaked online in full, three months early.
The rumor is still unverified, and Marvel hasn’t said a word. But if a real copy is out there, Marvel has been down this road before.
It ended with the FBI.

The Wolverine Leak Of 2009
On March 31, 2009, a full workprint of X-Men Origins: Wolverine hit the internet a month before release.
It was unfinished — missing effects, visible wires, temp music — but it was the whole movie, and it was downloaded more than a million times in its first week online.
Fox called in the FBI. Fox News columnist Roger Friedman reviewed the leaked copy and was fired for it.
Then the movie opened to $85 million anyway and finished with $373 million worldwide.
The uploader wasn’t so lucky. The FBI traced the leak to Gilberto Sanchez, a New York glass installer who bought a bootleg DVD off the street and put it online. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a year in federal prison.

The Expendables 3 Took The Hit
Five years later, a DVD-quality copy of The Expendables 3 leaked three weeks before release and was downloaded millions of times before opening day.
That one didn’t shrug it off. The movie opened to $15.9 million, the first two Expendables had opened to $34.8 million and $28.6 million.
Lionsgate sued the sites hosting the file. Overseas audiences bailed the movie out, pushing it to roughly $215 million worldwide.

It Just Happened Again With Mutiny
The freshest example is only a month old.
Amazon accidentally streamed Jason Statham’s Mutiny on Prime Video days before theaters, putting a pristine 4K copy with a finished sound mix into the wild.
Mutiny debuted as the most pirated movie of the week, beating Spider-Man: Brand New Day, while the worldwide box office stalled around $16 million on a $50 million-plus picture. The overseas rescue that saved The Expendables 3 never showed up, and buyers are still waiting on Amazon to write a check.

So Which One Is Doomsday?
The pattern runs one way: leaks wound mid-size movies and bounce off events.
Wolverine had free copies everywhere and still opened huge. Doomsday is a far bigger event than Wolverine ever was — and any copy floating around three months out would almost certainly be an unfinished cut, the same thing that leaked in 2009.
If the rumor proves true, history says what comes next: takedowns, an FBI referral, and a hunt for whoever hit upload.
Before then, Avengers: Endgame Encore brings official Doomsday footage to theaters September 25, and the movie opens December 18. Catch up on all our coverage at the Avengers: Doomsday hub.
