The 10th Doctor Who, David Tennant, recently had a role on the Cartoon Network Star Wars: The Clone Wars television show, and now the actor says he would like to play a part in the new Star Wars movie.

The BBC caught up with Tennant, who voiced a droid in the Clone Wars, and was first asked if he went to Lucasflim to do the voice-acting.

“No, I didn’t. I would have loved to do that,” Tennant said. “No, I did it at a little underground studio in Soho.”

Tennant says he voiced the part over a year and a half ago, so he had no prior information on the Star Wars movies, but when asked if he would like to have a role in the new movies responded in the affirmative.

“Yes, new Star Wars films. Yeah, that would be great,” he said. “Star Wars is such a key part of my childhood, my entire life. These are the fairy tales of our era, aren’t they?”

Regarding next year’s Doctor Who 50th Anniversary?

David Tennant wished he had an answer to the question as he gets asked it all the time.
