[[wysiwyg_imageupload:6466:]]Jonathan Hickman is launching a new Marvel Cosmic event event using Thanos, the Avengers, the Marvel heroes and the Inhumans called Infinity.
Might as well thrown in Nova and the Guardians of the Galaxy as they seem to be used in some capacity, as USA Today describes them as “outer-space heroes.”
Yeah, maybe three years ago.
Infinity begins with Free Comic Book Day on May 4th written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Jim Cheung, Jerome Opena, and Dustin Weaver.
It will then be a six issue event debuting in August.
The FCBD issue will deal with Thanos having his sites set on Earth — after the Avengers departure of the planet has left it “vulnerable.”
Hickman’s main Avengers title will see the Assemblers team with the likes of Nova and the Guardians of the Galaxy to unite the races of space in an attempt to take on The Builders (see first arc of Hickman’s Avengers). Skrulls, Kree and Brood are mentioned.
New Avengers and Infinity is said to deal with the remaining heroes that will be left to take on Thanos. Daredevil is sited as taking on uber-level threats.
The big push for this series is for The Inhumans, who are described as “The Calvary.”
“There are huge plans for the Inhumans,” Hickman said. “They’re such great characters, and this will be a pretty good example of why.”
Pictured on the art we see the following heroes:
Medusa, Karnak, Doctor Strange, Gorgon, Captain America, Spider-Man, Black Bolt, Iron Man, Falcon, Wolverine, Ex Nihilo, Spider-Woman, Black Panther, Havok, Mr. Fantastic, Gladiator, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Sunfire, Smasher, Hulk, Sunspot, Wasp, Thor, Rogue, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Beast, Captain Universe, and Namor.
