AQUAMAN KICKS SOME MARVEL TAIL ONCE AGAIN

For the second straight month, DC Comics has taken all top ten spots for comic sales.

And for the second straight month, Justice League and Batman have led the pack.

As with January, DC Comics holds the top ten slots in February, with the likes of Aquaman beating out the various Wolverine, X-Men, Avengers, Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man and Thor titles.

However, Marvel did take both the retail (38.61%) and dollar (35.92%) shares for February, with DC’s dollar share coming in at under 30% since the launch of the New 52 began (29.47%). DC’s retail came in at 35.26%.

It must be noted that Marvel does produce more monthly comics as well as charges more for a majority of their books. Coupled with those facts is that DC doesn’t (for some odd reason) take advantage of the month’s that have five week shipping dates, such as with February, and basically doesn’t ship new product. Marvel has also been double shipping their more popular books, which is certainly a factor.

It will be interesting to see the charts when Avengers Vs. X-Men hits in April.

Regarding sales for the month of February overall, sales are up! Good news!
