DC Comics could end up publishing Star Trek and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics under Skydance.
It comes from The Hollywood Reporter’s new report, the same one where James Gunn and Peter Safran were told to “keep doing what you’re doing”.
Friday’s Skydance announcement video put the DC bullet in the top tier of the company’s brand lineup, and per THR, the respect extends to the publishing side.

DC Passed Marvel, And The New Bosses Know It
THR notes DC Comics has overtaken Marvel in sales and market share for the first time in decades, crediting the Absolute Universe and rebuilt relationships with creators.
In June, insiders laid out the strategy for us: DC passed Marvel on the strength of the Absolute line, Absolute Batman sells around 500,000 copies, and the line is “in sync with the influence of Anime/ Manga in global storytelling.”
That sync is why the Absolute Batman animated series was greenlit, with Scott Snyder creating and showrunning.
And last week, the same sources told us Paramount and upper WBD execs know exactly how popular Absolute Batman is worldwide.
We’ve been told Skydance is well aware of DC Comics.
‘It’s An IP Generator’
For years, rumors floated that Warner Bros. Discovery wanted to sell off DC. David Zaslav never did, and per THR, a sale is now even less likely.
“It’s an IP generator,” a source with knowledge of DC and the comics world tells the trade.
THR’s source expects the new company to combine some brands. DC is not one of them.
“I can see why Skydance would combine Nickelodeon with Cartoon Network,” says the source. “DC? They’re not touching that.”
Star Trek And The Turtles At DC
Instead of shrinking, DC Comics could grow.
THR reports DC could potentially put out comics based on Paramount-owned properties, naming Star Trek and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Nothing is announced; THR frames it as a possibility once the two companies are under one roof. The merger closes October 6.
DC Comics passed Marvel, and the new owners noticed. The next question is whether Star Trek and the Turtles end up with DC bullets on their covers.
