David Yates Still Says Doctor Who Movie Is Underway

[page_title]

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1134:]]Back in November, David Yates, director of four Harry Potter movies, stated that a Doctor Who movie was being planned, that they were looking for writers, and that it might take 2-3 years to get it right.

This was followed up a couple weeks later by the showrunner of the current Doctor Who TV series, Steven Moffat, who said that it wasn’t true, that Yates was “speaking off the cuff.”

Now this seemed odd to yours truly as why would Yates say something like that in the first place?

Well, now we are hearing word (via Bleeding Cool) that Yates is indeed planning a Doctor Who movie, that it is 5-6 years away, and that it may tie in to the TV series. Yates apparently also mentioned that he looks forward to sitting down with Steven Moffat to discuss the plans.

Moffat previously mentioned if a Who movie was ever green lit, it would star the TV version of the Doctor, and be made by the BBC team — “and certainly NOT be a Hollywood reboot.”

We’ll be sure to update when more becomes available.
