Confirming an earlier rumor, it’s now reported that David S. Goyer is developing a Superman prequel series for SyFy with Krypton.
The Krypton series will be in the same vein as the Gotham series and will center around Superman’s grandpa (Jor-El’s father) and the House of El.
It’s stated the series will take place years before the Superman we know when the House of El was shamed and ostracized and follows the Superman’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest super hero ever known.
Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time, Criminal Minds, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Flash Forward) is writing the script and will executive produce alongside Goyer, with Golberg and Goyer also behind the story.
Krypton marks Goyer’s third TV series, which follows NBC’s Constantine and Starz’s Da Vinci’s Demons.
Goyer was also responsible for writing Man of Steel, which featured the extensive Krypton opening with Russell Crowe and Michael Shannon.
Krypton marks the eighth DC series airing or in development with plans for Supergirl underway at CBS, Titans at TNT, iZombie on the CW and Arrow, The Flash, Constantine and Gotham already on TV.
