Christian Bale, who was in China for his new movie, The Flowers Of War, got into a scuffle and car chase with the authorities of China.

While filming the movie, Bale heard about Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng’s plight, an advocate against abusive practices by China’s family-planning officials, who was recently released from prison.

Bale and a camera crew from CNN made their way to the small village where Chen lived, but were turned back by Chinese authorities.

According to CNN:

“Why can I not visit this free man?” Bale asked repeatedly, only to receive punches from guards aiming for his small camera as they tried to drag him away from the rest of us.

A precarious scene ensued Thursday as one of the gray minivans chased our car at high speed on bumpy country roads for some 40 minutes.
