Remember we told you that Matthew Modine’s character, Nixon, was a CIA Special Agent in The Dark Knight Rises?
Well, it appears that the viral marketing campaign for Christopher Nolan’s third Batman installment has begun.
Two sites (Empire and Wired – both mum on the subject) received the following “CIA documents” of one Dr. Leonid Pavel, a Russian nuclear scientist of some sort.
Seems the Doc has gone missing and a militant group out of the Democratic Republic of Georgia has contacted the CIA stating that they are “protecting” Pavel, and that he wants safe passage to the U.S. They also demand $3 million for their services.
Of course, how this ties into the movie could very well have to do with the bomb that Bane has been seen with. A dirty bomb?
It’s all guess work right now, but the apparent mug shot below is said to resemble the actor Alon Aboutboul, who is in The Dark Knight Rises.
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra’s al Ghul.
