With the big news that Disney has acquired Lucasfilm and all its assets, including Star Wars, fans of the comic book series from Dark Horse Comics might be left wondering what is to become of their favorite comic books.

As of now, it seems that Star Wars will stay at Dark Horse, at least for the time being.

“Dark Horse and LucasFilm have a strong partnership which spans over 20 years, and has produced multiple characters and story lines which are now part of the Star Wars lore,” Dark Horse President Mike Richardson said, reports CBR. “‘Star Wars’ will be with us for the near future. Obviously, this deal changes the landscape, so we’ll all have to see what it means for the future.”

Regarding the comic books, this might cause comic fans to recall when Disney purchased Marvel and moved their Disney line of comics to Marvel from Boom! Studios.

Disney also announced a new Star Wars movie slated for 2015. George Lucas mentioned that he has treatments for 7, 8 and 9. Could we be seeing the big screen adaptation for Dark Empire, which was put out by Dark Horse?
