David Corenswet Could Keep Superman If Man of Tomorrow Makes Money (Exclusive)

David Corenswet Could Keep Superman If Man of Tomorrow Makes Money (Exclusive)

UPDATE 2: Gunn says the first assembly cut of Man of Tomorrow is complete.

UPDATE: Per Bloomberg, Gunn and Safran’s DC contracts run out in April 2027, before Man of Tomorrow hits theaters.

The Superman rumors keep breaking David Corenswet’s way.

This week brought the claim he stays Superman for the next decade, whatever happens to DC Studios.

Before that came the multiple-suits hype, space suit included.

We’re told the positive attention is no coincidence.

But claims that David Ellison has “buddied up” with Corenswet are vastly overblown.

Why Corenswet Is Getting The Push

Corenswet’s next movie is a Paramount movie.

He plays NFL draft pick John Tuggle in Mr. Irrelevant, opening Christmas Day, and Ellison himself produced it through Skydance Sports.

Corenswet’s Superman is also featured in the new Skydance promo announcing the combined company’s name.

And the studio has $250 million or more riding on Man of Tomorrow.

The friendly attention makes sense.

‘The Ellisons Are NOT Loyal People’

Now the reality check from a Paramount insider.

“Makes sense they would keep the current Superman, if MOT makes money,” the insider tells us. “If it’s another bomb that loses $ or barely recovers total budget watch out. The Ellisons are NOT loyal people, they’re business people. And the company needs TONS of money to pay down debt, org restructure, and 30 movies a year.”

“Another bomb” points at Supergirl.

And barely recovering a budget is the exact scenario from the Clayface story: “They’re looking at every dollar in every budget.”

Making the money back is not the bar. Profit is.

The 30 movies a year is the pledge from the California settlement.

That debt is why Ynon Kreiz is coming in to cut $6-7 billion.

‘PANIC Right Now Inside ParaBros’

The insider continued:

“PANIC right now inside ParaBros. Everybody is ankling for new/better deals like Bloys.”

Ankling is trade-speak for heading for the exit. Casey Bloys played competing offers and came out running all of streaming.

The insider also pointed back to a September call:

“Remember I told you first few months will be kumbaya because Ellison can only deal with so many dramas at once.”

That’s the same warning from September: kumbaya at the new company “before the ax falls.”

And per our insiders, if Corenswet keeps Superman, that doesn’t mean Gunn keeps his DCU, as Gunn’s contract is still set to expire in 2027, which fits with Puck’s recent report that Gunn and Safran will “initially” be in charge of DC following the merger.

Man of Tomorrow opens July 9, 2027. The decade depends on it.
