After Cosmic Book News was told Byran Cranston has been cast as Lex Luthor in the new Batman/Superman movie, we were also told Mercy Graves will be featured in the Man of Steel sequel.
Mercy Graves in the comic books happens to be an Amazon, a member of the same all-female warrior nation that Wonder Woman belongs to.
A few days following our reveal of Mercy Graves, a reported casting call said to be floating around talent agencies (via Latino Review) stated a potential love interest for Batman was being looked at, and one that happened to be physically strong as well as tall and beautiful.
Sure sounds like an Amazon.
The description has even led to speculation that it might be for Wonder Woman herself, and what's interesting about that is in the defunct NBC Wonder Woman series, she was corporate executive Diana Themyscira, head of Themyscira Industries. It's possible Zack Snyder and David Goyer could be going with something similar as Batman dating another executive sounds about right.
Or it's quite possible that Mercy Graves, known in the animated shows and comic books as being Lex Luthor's #1, goes deep undercover to befriend (and other interests) Bruce Wayne.
So possibly the character of Mercy Graves is what the casting call is really about.
The sequel to "Man of Steel" goes into production next year for a July 17, 2015 release also starring Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
