Superman Man of Steel 2013: Superboy "Black Zero" To Appear? Or Something Else?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3071:]]An upcoming Superman Lego set has seemingly revealed some details about the upcoming Man of Steel movie.

Brickset, the Lego set guide website, has a list of super hero related Legos for 2013 with one particular Superman set titled "Black Zero Escape."

It could either be a reference to the Black Zero DC Comics Superman villain, or with the recent news that director Zack Snyder might be changing the name of the Phantom Zone to the Black Zone, it could be related to an "escape" from the Phantom Zone.

Or something else.

Interestingly enough, another Superman Lego set mentioned by Brickset,"Superman Battle Of Smallville," could be a reference to the Plano, Illinois set images we have seen from the Man of Steel which featured Henry Cavill as Superman, Antje Traue as Faora — and an as-of-yet unnamed - assumed - Kryptonian (see right), which could be Black Zero.

However, there could be another possibility in that "Black Zero" is also the name of an elite Kryptonian military squad. At times in the comics it's been referred to as a terrorist organization or even a defense force against Braniac. With the above mention that the Phantom Zone may be changed to the "Black Zone," perhaps "Black Zero" is the name of Zod's elite forces.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3235:]]Furthermore, in the DC Comics, there is even reference to "Black Zero" with Kryptonian clones, as well as an an alternate universe Superboy.

And the first appearance of "Black Zero" in the comics saw the being actually destroy Krypton, and then eventually come to Earth to do the same. Superman released the KryptonianJax-Ur, from the Phantom Zone to aid him in his battle against Black Zero.

The name of Jax-Ur was revealed as a Kryptponian to be featured in the Man of Steel as part of the early script leaks.

Obviously, Zack Snyder could be going in a lot of different directions with "Black Zero," so per the norm, we'll have to wait and see.
