Scarlett Johnasson returns in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as Black Widow, the Russian super-spy working for S.H.I.E.L.D.
Johansson has quickly become a fan-favorite since first appearing in Iron Man 2. She made heads turn in her debut seen in The Avengers movie when she took out the Eastern Bloc bad guys and talked down The Hulk.
If any Marvel female character is to get her first movie, it will be the Black Widow, and now that seems to be the case.
Speaking with Total Film, Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige says they are exploring a Black Widow movie.
"We start filming the next Avengers film at the end of March. Widow's part in that is very big," Feige said. "We learn more about her past and learn more about where she came from and how she became who she became in that film. The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great, and we have some development work with that."
Scarlett Johansson also offers a bit about the dynamic between Natasha Romanova and Steve Rogers in Captain America 2.
"I don't spend a lot of time in my catsuit in this one. I take it to the streets in a different way," Johansson offered. "There's a real kind of Big Brother aspect to this film. All that Cap and Widow know to be true, everything that they trust in - as much as they trust in anything - is sort of ripped out from underneath them in a way that we haven't seen before. Everything is not as it seems. It's not so black and white, it's not so cut and dry, it's not good versus evil. The stakes are much higher. It brings them closer together because they find themselves in a vulnerable situation and they're in it together."
"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" has an April 4, 2014 release directed by the Russ Bros. starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily Van Camp, Hayley Atwell and Robert Redford.
