Oh, boy. Here we go.
With Marvel Studios greenlighting a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which is inspired by the Abnett and Lanning Marvel Comics run, as well as using the Nova Corps, many fans were hoping for some mention of Richard Rider Nova in the movie.
James Gunn previously stated there will be no Nova in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
Now it's learned there might not ever be a Nova in a movie.
Kevin Feige recently stated Richard Rider Nova was in an early script of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but they came to a "fork in the road" and cut the character out.
Now James Gunn - a couple of days before the movie comes out - told Wired he doesn't like the character anyway.
I think certain people really like Nova. Quite honestly, I really don't care. He's not a favourite character. I don't know whether he's ever going to show up.
I think they serve a purpose? I like the Nova Corps, I just don't like Nova that much! He's okay, you know? I just don't like that helmet!
Gunn's statement that Nova isn't a favorite character is ironic -- as none of the Guardians of the Galaxy were favorites (at least amongst the general Marvel Comics crowd), but he directed and used the characters anyway.
And regarding the look of the helmet, many Nova fans don't like the way the Corps are portrayed in the movie as the costumes look real cheap and campy; so perhaps Gunn's dislike is showing through.
Richard Rider Nova.
Unless of course, are you talking about NINO?
