Superman Tyler Hoechlin debuted with the first two episodes of Supergirl Season 2 to much fanfare as this version of the Man of Steel closely resembles the fan-favorite version of Christopher Reeve. The Supergirl episodes also saw high ratings with Superman, which is a definite good sign.
However, DC only allowed The CW to use Superman for two episodes (assumed to be because of the Henry Cavill DCEU Superman), which is the reason Tyler Hoechlin hasn't been seen since.
It was recently announced that Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow have all been renewed for new seasons, so does that include Superman?
EW.com reports, sadly, there are no current plans for Tyler Hoechlin Superman to return.
“Tyler did a great job,” The CW president Mark Pedowitz said. “There’s no plan to do a series. There are no plans at the moment for him to return [to Supergirl]. If they wish to have him return, we’d love to have him.”
When pressed on the possibility of a Tyler Hoechlin Superman appearance in the Arrowverse, Mark Pedowitz continues by shooting the possibility down.
“I can’t even answer the question yet because at this time there are no plans to do it and there have been no discussions about it,” Pedowitz added.
While Mark Pedowitz apparently had a bout with kryptonite, executive producer Greg Berlanti seems more hopeful.
“Look, we were just really lucky,” Berlanti said about using Superman. “We asked to have him come on for the first couple episodes and they were great about it. We’d love to have Tyler back, he’s amazing, he was great in the role. In success, I think all those things are possible. I’m always the guy who says ‘yes’ if there seems to be an appetite for it and the people involved are really nice.”
If you want more of Superman and Tyler Hoechlin in the Arrowverse, I suppose the best thing to do would be to tweet at DC Entertainment president and co-runner of the DC films, Geoff Johns. And hopefully, Zack Snyder isn't the one holding this version of Big Blue back.
